Osmocote Plus Root Tabs

HI everyone I was wondering if anyone has experience using Osmocote Plus root tabs (15-9-12)? I purchased some off eBay and want to hear from anyone that has used these! I have a planted 12 gallon with a betta, 5 neon tetras, and a Nerite and Assassin snail. Thanks

I switched from Flourish Tabs to DIY tabs a few months ago. Osmocote Plus is time released so you need to use more to compensate. It seems like 3 or 4 DIY tabs to each Flourish tab seems to be the equivalent amount for my plants. The upside is that the DIY tabs last longer than Flourish tabs which seem to only last about a month.

 

So would I then add more per sq inch? It says one for every 6 sq “

Like 2 or 3 per hole I dig them into?

 

I don't go by the square inch rule. I usually put 3-6 tabs per sword and 1-3 for other root feeders. I started with 2-3 per sword but didn't see any difference after 2 weeks so I doubled the amount. It's been a few months and I haven't added any more and there was no downturn like when the Flourish tabs wore off. This also varies with different tanks so you might have to experiment.

I push them into the gravel, evenly around the roots.

Ok so I began with 12 or 13 all around and did a small dose of API Leaf Zone and co2 for my floating Hornwort My next inquiry is, do you change the water a little more often? There were a couple tabs that escaped and I tried my best to rebury but a few exploded and there are a couple “nutrient rocks” laying on top of my substrate.
