Oscar Tankmates For A 260l

Hey, I finally found out the size of the 4ft tank (a 260L/70G tank), and I would like an oscar. I heard red-blue colombian tetras can work, but only on 1 page, so I find such info iffy. I don't really want a lone oscar, so what would you recommend? If needed, I'm particularly fond of gourami, cichlids, gudgeons, and rainbowfish. Any suggestions are welcomed! Also, I am aware that it depends on the Oscar's temperment.

I had an Oscar in a 75 gallon tank. 4 foot long 18 inches wide and once full grown he was a tank full by himself. So an Oscar is going to limit you very much.

Ok, so with the limited space I have is there anything you'd recommend?

Not really. Oscars are big powerful fish. Smaller schooling fish would probably get eaten and to add another fish of similar size is just going to be too much. I know its tough when they are little looking at a half empty tank but they don't stay small long.

Okay, thanks for that!

I agree, oscars are pretty big - and can be territorial - so in your tank, due to it's size I would just keep it by itself.

My mom had an Oscar as I was growing up. He wouldn't share this space with *anything*. Plecos? Dead. Another Oscar? Dead. African Butterfly fish? Jumped out, committing suicide, to get away from his attacks. Crawfish? Mom came home to find the Crawfish's claws sticking out of his mouth.
Every once in a while, I get tempted to get an Oscar. They are super entertaining fish to own. We could hand feed him and he'd dance with you. I wouldn't recommend it, but as kids my siblings and I would catch grasshoppers in the backyard and feed them to him. Growing up I thought his name was 'Oscar' it wasn't until I was older that I realized that's what his type of fish actually is. lol
