Oscar Rehome

Good day,

As I have to rehome my self now and are forced by limited space and landlords and stuff, I must sell my 214 gallon tank.... So I have a oscar in there along with other south american cichlids, but my hearts point is my big 10 inch Albino Tiger Oscar.... And I really wish to keep that fish.
So one of my tanks can move along, which is a 65 gallon (50 inch long)

His mates are a female flowerhorn, another oscar, 2 bloodparrots, pleco, synodontus cats (5)
He is the dominant one in that tank and sometimes there is fights between him and the other oscar and the flowerhorn.... So he is not involved in a pair of some sort with the other oscar. So that is keeping me under the impression that he won't miss his mates once he is out of there....

Now my question is, is it fine to rehome my one Oscar to that 65 gallon....? He will be alone in there with a catfish or 2 (Synodontus) or will the 65 gallon be too small for him?
Will he get lonely?
As bad as I wish to keep him, I will only do that change of tanks if I am sure it will work and to know that I would really appreciate you guys help and advice on this decision to make....

I think it should be okay to rehome one Oscar in a 65 gallon, he'll still have to get used to the downgrade though.

What species are your synos? Species like Syno Eupterus can get up to a foot.

What is the width of the 65G tank (front to back)?

I bought them as Lace/Featherfin Syno's.... They are dark brown with black spots and the "featherfins" on top.... They are about 3/4 years old now and are +- 4 -6 inch.... The past year I have not noticed any more growing in them.... Hope that helps in identifying there spesies?

The 65 is 16 inch in width....? And 20 inch in height....

Synodontis Eupterus or "Featherfins", usually top out at 8-9". They are one of the only African species i've kept before. My LFS has one in a 120G display that's around 18 years old and just pushing 8"TL. A 12" Featherfin would be extremely rare and unlikely, even in the wild I would assume.

Sorry, but i'm going to say no. I wouldn't keep one in a 65G, especially with a Featherfin. Personally I think Oscars need 6ftx18" tanks minimum. They are not only large, but active, and seem to cramped in 4ft tanks. That said, it's only an opinion and many will disagree.

75G is usually considered the bare minimum, because of the 18" width that allows them to turn around with ease. A 16" tank will still allow them to turn around quite easily, but the 4ft length is what gets me.

My Synos being 4-6 inch at age of 3-4years old...... don't think they will even get close 10 inch?

Thanks for your input.... it gave me the answers I looked for.... still hope to get more opinions though....

Yesterday I found a bigger tank! One which is not much, but quite larger than the 65.... a 85 gallon!!! Its between 5 & 6 foot long and 20 inch wide and high....

Would that be sufficient for one Oscar?
What about the Syno's? Should I add a Syno or 3 or rather keep the tank with only the Oscar in?
