Oscar fish wigglers not becoming free swimming

Hi everyone I finally register with fishlore today. I’ve been reading threads for years though.
Today i post this to inform everyone about the oscar wigglers i have. One of friends' oscars bred and laid eggs, he was disinterested in raising the fry so i felt bad for them and took the eggs home . Presently i have about 15 babies(there were not many eggs oscars were eating them, i brought the remnants). This is day 5 after hatching and they‘re not free swimming yet. I am really concerned about them. Please someone advice me on what to do.
Thank you,
MEMO Dutta.

Give it another day, what is the temperature? If it is quite low they will be slower to develop.

I do not think you are doing anything wrong, are they still wriggling? Normally the parents would move them from place to place periodically, mouth them and fan them to keep them supplied with fresh oxygenated water. Placing an airstone near to the wrigglers might help - not too near to blow them away, but near enough to produce a flow of water over them.

I can't see the video but it should be fine if its not blowing them about too much. Have you got food ready for when thy are free swimming? Newly hatched brine shrimp would be the best if possible.

That is good news, I thought they would be fine. Good luck raising them, as there are not many and you have live food it should not be a problem.

Thank you so much for your help. A second one has just started to swim. This one's an albino i am sure as it is light in colour!! (Father was an albino and mother was a tiger)

The best way is to look at them with a magnifying glass, you should be able to see them eating and see that they have full stomachs. I would feed them 4 times a day,

It’s really hard to tell from that picture. With brine shrimps it is easier because the stomach will be red. But if you watch them with the magnifying glass you should be able to see if they are going after the food and swallowing it. Do you put the food close to the fry? If they are not eating they won’t survive much longer but as you are giving them live food they should be doing OK.
