We have 2 Oscar fish of about 1 year old and just last week Saturday moved them over to a new 250lt tank.

Today we bought extra pebbles for the tank and when we insterted it, we lifted up one rock and 2 small balls came loose from underneath. one is completely brown and the other is white with a bit of brown at one end. I tried to search the internet to see what Oscar eggs look like, but can't find any pictures.

The 2 fish seems to still be guarding the rock it came out underneath, but they also circle the 2 "eggs(?)" floating at the top...

I tried to take pictures of the "eggs", but couldn't really get a clear shot. Are these what eggs look like?

Did the "balls" float to the surface?

Eggs are to dense to float to the surface, they'd float around on the bottom of the tank. Eggs are usually yellow if fertilized, but milky and white in coloration if they are unfertilized.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply.
The eggs were "stuck" to the rock and when my DH removed the rock from the water it floated to the top yes. It just floats around now.
It's definitely not food or poop... Weird.
