Oscar always sleeping on side

eligri

Hey'a!

My 3 year old Oscar is quite odd. Whenever lights are out, he falls asleep and floats up to the surface. Here he drifts upp until he is lying sideways, then slowly drifts back upright, then sideways the other direction. All night long.

Next day, he's hungry as always, chases fish around, digs holes, etc.

Why does he do this? No visible bloat, and I find poop that looks like his around the tank. He has been doing this for a long time, probably atleast a year. Every night.
Never during the day/lights on.

Cheers

Maybe he's just sulking because the lights are off. Oscar's are moody from what I know.

Oscars tend to "play dead" a lot. Wouldn't be alarmed by it,

Every fish has it's own quarks & personality. As long as he is eating and otherwise acting normally, likely no worries.
My Red Tail Botias often sleep on their sides. A Red Texas Cichlid I once kept would swim complete loops in anticipation of food. Lol.

He is very moody indeed. But clearly asleep, due to tilting each side, swimming while sideways, swimming backwards, etc. Think he might just be dreaming :p

During daytime he is a healthy, moody, hungry and mean oscar. So guess I shouldnt worry :)
