So someone mentioned the Eheim Ecco Plus series as having very low power consumption, and they do indeed, so I did an impulse buy. It is coming from the UK, and I didn't think much about it. But then it hit me, the pump might be 220 volt, not ~110. Sure enough, they are. Is that much of a problem? Or can I just get some kind of converter or something? And do I need to get some kind of weird European plug to U.S. plug type adaptor? Fuuuuuuuuuu....

Thank you david!!! I was worried you might be able to convert down, but not up, glad to know you can go both ways! I guess $17 is not a bad price to learn a lesson. At the very end of what you pasted, it says (100W) - the filter is only 8 watt, I hope the 100W is like a maximum, not some kind of crazy minimum?

Thanks!!!

Congrats on the new filter. I personally love mine, they work rather well. The only issue I have is that I wish they made the canister slightly bigger, for more media.
