I am fairly new to the world of saltwater so I'm not sure if this is part of the cycle, or if I need to take action. There have been orange/brown spots forming on my dry rock and live sand, and it appear to be forming in my filter media as well. Can anybody classify what this is? Should I be worried, or is this nothing to worry about?

Totaly fine, my dry rock in my new tank has that on it too its just what happens in a new saltwater tank. If you have ever seen live rock it gets its color from algae.
