Orandas Aggressive Towards Telescope Butterfly Goldfish - What To Do Now

I have 2 oranda and one small telescope butterfly goldfish in a QT waiting until I can get my tank ready for them to go in (hopefully tomorrow). I fed them this evening, did their usual water change. I went back in there to change (their qt is sitting in my bathtub) and couldn't find my telescope. I lifted up the silk plant and he was there. Immediately, the other two were after him. They have been fine this whole time and really only pay attention to each other and have never bothered him. However, he is missing his eyes and some scales now on the top of his head from their attacks. I finally placed him in a collander with a live plant. I don't know if they initiated it or if he damaged them somehow and they took advantage.

I'm at a loss as to what to do and am extremely upset. What a great way to end my birthday. Any suggestions?

He obviously can't be in the tank with them. How big is your qt?
I'd keep him in the qt and I would use aquarium to try to help the healing and prevent secondary infections due to the damage. You'll have to see if he is able to find food. If not, the kindest thing would be to euthanize him. I'm so sorry.

Goldfish are awesome healers with melafix . But his/her eyes won't grow back . But goldfish are very hardy . He could be fine without them . Good luck

Definitely feel awful for the little butterfly. I'm not sure what I'll do long-term as I don't have another tank for him. Right now, he's eating fine and swimming around in the qt by himself. He eats with typical pig-like determination.

That's actually very good. Did you salt with aquarium salt or use methylene blue to prevent secondary infections and help him heal?
We're all pulling for your guy. Good luck.
