Oranda Goldfish On Bottom Of Tank

hi,

I have had two oranda goldfish for a couple of months now, and all has been fine. I did a water change two weeks ago which was one of my larger ones, and a partial one this morning when I noticed one of my oranda's on the bottom of the tank gasping to a degree. I am unsure what is going on, as it will not eat either. my other oranda chased them around and he seemed to not be swimming as quick as usual. my other oranda goldfish seems completely fine.

they are both small, and in a 2.5-foot tank, 40cm deep, and 50cm tall.

any help on the matter would be appreciated, and am happy to attach a photo if it helps.

Thank you.

There is really not enough information for an adequate response from me. However, I have had gold fish and even small ones are massive waste producers. I am just guessing here but perhaps not enough filtration or water changes. I always changed my goldies with about 50% once weekly in their 20 gallon (when young two shared a 20 gallon).

your profile says you don't know about the nitrogen cycle.

your tank is about 41-42 gallons.

what are your water parameters? ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph

what filter are you using? what type of filter media?

i'd suggest start doing 50-75% weekly water changes.

Hi! Tested my water all seemed fine.
Turns out he has come down with dropsy. I Thankyou for all your help, and he is currently being treated. If you have any advice regarding dropsy treatment let me know. Thanks again

dropsy is usually an internal bacterial infection. you can try Kanaplex.
