Online Supply Stores

Does anyone know good online stores to get fish supplies at good prices, good selection, etc? We live in a small town & will be searching ourselves but appreciate any stores that you've found to be worth checking out. Thanks.

Drs. Foster and Smith too. I get all my supplies from them. I've been shopping with them since I've had my dogs. They sell everything. They're great. Natalie

I ordered from them a few times. Mostly dog items. They have a 14 day live arrival guarantee. What you should do is see what minimum order is for each.

I have used Dr Foster & Smith for years for my cats. ( Mostly for indulgent stuff - LOL. I also live in a small town (Ontario/ Canada) with only a Walmart for pet stuff.

I decided to try them for all of my fish stuff, including the aquarium. Except for the last order of meds for Neptune - Murphy's Law :-\- their regular shipping has been super fast. I ship to Minnesota and go over to a relatives and pick it up. They use FedEx - I wish sometimes they used USPS since I have a post office box, however, it is one stop shopping here.

Another neat thing they have is free on line live help. I have used it several times regarding fish stuff - and they have technicians and experts available for advice. ( Not as fun as here, but still very helpful). Also excellent return policy, and their prices are very competitive. If I order within Canada, most supplies costs are exactly double, plus I have to pay tax on everything and shipping is extraordinarily high. Val

I think when we're back from our trip, we'll do a 'test order' with both to see how they do and all. Both sound good and we'd be happy to have multiple sites to order from. Petco's about to lose a lot of business for their poor betta treatment. >

Big Als is also very good for most things. They have a US and a Canada site.

The article is dated in 2002 so hopefully they have stopped selling them. I shop at this Big Al's store and I've never seen any dyed fish. Their tanks are very clean and the fish look well treated. The Bettas are still kept in containers that I consider too small but their bowls are in a heated display case and the water is clean. The staff seems more knowledgable than Petsmart for sure! I find they have a great selection of products and medicines.

I can't believe people do that to fish! I'd never consider it - cruel & ridiculous.. why don't we buy purple milk at the grocery store & serve it on our green bread with some black butter? Sad what some people do for extra money in their pocket.

The did that with butter once. It creeped me out. Except it was blue, red and green. I forgot who made it. I thought it would still be beneficial to learn about there past business.

It is.. thanks, we'll be reading over those links so we can spot that should we come across a store low enough to be even more inhumane to their fish than the average store is.
