How do I take care of an onion plant and a sword plant?

Both are root feeders. Depending on the specific varieties, they may need moderate lighting or ferts in the water column.

I recently got an onion plant (Zephyranthes candida), and so far it's growing well without any fertilizers. It's been a few weeks, but it's growing its 3rd new stem/leaf. All this growth while having problems trying to keep the plant rooted in my substrate.
