One single white spot help.

Noticed a white spot on him 2 days now. Seen him rub that area several times today. No other spots in his body.

pH - 7.6, high pH - 7.4, NH3 - 0, NO2 - 0, NO3 - bet 5 -10ppm. He's alone in his 5 gallon tank. Had him over a year now. The only thing I added in his tank was a trident and moss that I quarantined for a month and was transferred in the tank last Feb 11th.

Weekly gravel vac maintenance, 25-30% water chnage. Feeding is twice per day. Rotating between Northfin, Ultra fresh shrimp patties, Fluval bug bites and NLS. Used to have frozen food once per week but haven't bought him new supplies for a month now.

Well, 1 one spot generally doesnt make for a case of ich. Have you noticed any fuzziness on that white spot?

Thank you for responding. No fuzziness. It looks like it actually fell off just now. Is this some kind of parasite? Do I need to medicate the tank?

No. You can turn the twmp up to 86 or so and use aquarium salt for a couple weeks. Should speed up the life cycle of any ich in the tank at that temp and the salt should help any further spores from attaching to the fish.

So its ick? Will salt affect my cycle? What dosage should I use per gallon?
