One of my 2 oscars is finding difficulty in eating

MLDEA

We have 2 oscars bought young a few months ago in our aquarium. Lately one of the oscars is finding difficulty to eat. The other oscar is eating the extra food we are trying to feed her and so ine of them is huge compared to the other. The small Oscar seems to jump to the surface to gobble the food from the sides of the tank instead of eating it smoothly like it used to and is mostly missing her target. Any suggestions please? Tried to isolate it but still to no avail.

Not sure but most people keep Oscar’s by themselves. So you might want to move it to its own tank for awhile and see how it does. Raise the temp 4*. This will stir its appetite. Keep it in clean water. Oscar’s can be difficult together. How big is your tank and how often do you change the water?

The tank is 375L and we do a 5-10% water change weekly. The temperature is currently warm and intact they have the fan going to cool the water to about 24degrees C. He does have time to feed but seems to miss when gulping.

Are they the only fish in the tank? Sounds like it’s going blind. Try changing 50% weekly for a month or so to see if it improves. 5-10% isn’t helping Oscar’s. There big eaters that produce a lot of waste. Especially when growing. Clean water is best for young fish.

There are another 2 small shark fish in the tank. So sad to see him not able to get his food. Will try with more water changes then. Thanks.
