Old Tank Stand

I'm going to set up my 40 gallon tank up again. For the past year the tank and the wooden aquarium stand have been left in the backyard. The stand never had any wood finish applied to it so I'm concerned that the stand might not be as sturdy anymore or might have water damage, due to the water from the rain. I'm thinking it should still hold but I just want to play it safe. Should I still use this stand or buy a new one?

If it is warped then it will probably crack your tank. An aquarium stand needs to be absolutely square and the top needs to be flat. If it were here in OH the stand would be completely ruined but I don't know about CA.

This is the stand. What do you think?

Good morning,

If you have concerns about the stand, maybe you can reinforce it with additional wood. My carpentry skills are a bit lacking so let's get some more responses. It still looks fairly sturdy to me.

I like the stand and hope you can resolve any issues so that you can still use it.

It doesn't look too bad but who knows from a pic. If you level the stand with shims under the legs so that all four sides are level, and then sit the tank on the stand, and the tank doesn't rock on the stand...Then look to make sure the tank is making contact at all four corners...And then look at the lengths from one corner to the next and there are no gaps between the tank and stand, then you're probable OK. That thing is real wood and looks pretty heavy duty.
