Odessa barb dropsy

Looks like dropsy I think. Does anyone know of treatment for this. I cant see the pinecones because he wont come out enough but hes really bloated. Can my other fish get it from him? I want to save him... i call them Larry, moe and curly. They are always chasing each other and being crazy.

If you have a quarantine tank, would be best to put him in it and put some antibiotics and aquarium salt in the water. Epsom salt dips can help ease the bloating. If the fish indeed does have dropsy.

I do have some epsom salt, can you tell me a type of antibiotics I should try? Also how much salt should i try. I did see the pinecones this morning when he came up to eat.

Epsom salt is about 1 tablespoon per gallon, but mix it away from the tank. Put it in a small container and put the fish in it for about 15-20 mins a day.

You can do aquarium salt in the tank at about 1 tablespoon for 3 gallons of water.

Kanaplex is something to try for anti-bacterial.

Can't guarantee anything, because even with treatment, dropsy is often fatal, but it may give the fish a fighting chance!

Yeah, i get that. I had a betta that got it. I couldnt save him. So want to try something different. Thank you for your help. We will see if we xan help this guy.
