View attachment 567314 I recently got a new betta from petco. he looks healthy to me but he isn’t very active and he typically just swims at the top. he explores the rest of his tank but when he does he moves pretty slow. he’s eating normally and he’s in a 5 gallon. heated to 78 degrees with plants and a large rock. he also sometimes swims with his head down and his tail almost up, as if he’s letting himself drift in place (NOT float away though). I didn’t know if this was normal new betta behavior or if maybe he just has a chilled out personality or if something is wrong. I have had bettas before but I don’t remember how they acted when I first brought them home. thanks!
thank you! that’s what I was hoping but i’m super paranoid when it comes to my pets and their health. I always want them to be feeling good!He sounds normal to me, probably just getting used to the new environment.
He sounds normal, he could still be adjusting or he is bored. If you want get a betta mirror and have him play with it for no more than 10 min every other day. In some cases the betta will "patrol" the tank or it might not react at all. Make shure you are feeding good food, personally I use omega one buffet flakes. Hope it helps! -NallanView attachment 567314 I recently got a new betta from petco. he looks healthy to me but he isn’t very active and he typically just swims at the top. he explores the rest of his tank but when he does he moves pretty slow. he’s eating normally and he’s in a 5 gallon. heated to 78 degrees with plants and a large rock. he also sometimes swims with his head down and his tail almost up, as if he’s letting himself drift in place (NOT float away though).
