Odd Behavior Continued

Well, the ich is very much under control, only a few spots left on him, now its just a matter of continuing to get all the stuff in the water. However his behavior isn't getting encouraging. He will only eat a bite of food maybe once a day if I'm lucky, and he just lays around not moving much. I saw him swim for a little while this morning, then he just got comfortable under a plant and hasn't moved in over an hour. I'm really worried that there may be something else wrong with him. I know that sometimes betta's can get depressed, so I'm wondering if he's upset about something else as well as being sick.

Has anyone had any of these problems before? What should I do or look for to help him get better?

Have you been treating him with antibiotics? After a parasite infestation the fish often have bacterial infections. He needs treatment with antibiotics. I would suggest you try Maracyn-Two. Don't wait. They can die in a matter of days from bacterial infection. You should notice a change in him within 2-3 days but keep treating for a full 5 days. Don't worry about the cloudy water. It won't hurt him. Remove all charcoal in the filter and do a water change before treatment and no water changes during treatment. Keep an eye on all water parameters (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates)

What size is his tank and is it cycled?

Part of it could be that he's tired from his bout with the ich, but Phloxface is right on and Maracyn-2 would be good (or TriSulfa or Fungus Clear or one of the Geltek antibiotics if you can't get the maracyn) because it does sound like he's fighting a bacterial infection and needs the antibiotics now. A treatment of the antibiotics will hopefully see him swimming around as lively as ever.

Thanks, I'll pick up an antibiotic tomorrow morning. When I got home just now I noticed that his tail has a lot of white on it. It looks like its been painted. Its hard to describe, but its probably a bacterial infection. I'll get him started on a good antibiotic in the morning when the stores are open!

Yea, it sounds like you've got visual confirmation now. Good luck with treating him and we'll be looking forward to hearing that it's all good for him.
