I have one obese Rosy Tetra in a community tank. I do not overfeed and my other fish are normal. This growth has been long term and did not happen quickly - this fish acts normal but wow...it's fat.

Any suggestions or does this look like something other than a fat fish? I can't really put the tank on a diet because the other fish do need to eat.

I think the other is a male...I wonder if she lays eggs every once in a while and they get eaten? How would I know if she were about to lay?

The male would be chasing her around, and they might go side by side into the weeds occasionally. If you have a male, I would treat this condition as possible constipation. Common practice is to feed a cooked/shelled pea, or give it an Epsom salt bath. The latter can also help if she is actually getting eggbound.
