Anyone got any insight on why my fish are acting a little crazy? I have 3 clown loaches, two big silver dollars, two bala sharks an a algae eater (him excluded)they are shooting back an forth across the bottom of the tank they have never all been together until yesterday an it's a 60 gallon aquarium.the clown loaches always hid before I moved them they were in a 20 gallon any insight would be great thanks

More information would help find out the problem.

Can you test the water for nitrite, nitrate, and ammonia? Temp? How long had the tank been setup and did you move just the loaches in or all of them together at one time? Are the flashing (scratching themselves on the decor/substrate)?

A few things come to mind with erratic swimming behavior. One is bad water quality and/or parasites. Another and more simple explanation is turning on the lights too soon, this can scare the fish and make them freak out.

Are you sure the water is perfect? One week isn’t long enough to completely cycle a tank, the bacteria need food (ammonia/nitrite) and time to multiply so they can keep up with the bioload from the fish. Only way to instantly cycle a tank is by seeding it with cycled filter media and even then it’s common to go through a mini cycle.

If you could, list the number results for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate and the kind of test kit you are using.

Generally, when fish start acting off I always recommend a 50% water change just to be on the safe side.

Are these guys all babies or full grown? You have some BIG fish in a tiny tank if theyre full grown. The Bala Sharks alone need double that at minimum.
