Not sure where to go with next plants

20g been slowly transitioning from fake to all live plants. Only one fake one left in the back right corner. Any thoughts on what next?

What I have: Java fern, anubias, Java moss (went wild but kinda like it), big rotala, sword, a fun floating clump of rotala that my honey gourami love. Had a couple bulbs that went great for about 5-6 months. Sand substrate.

Fish: mix of tetras, 2 honey gourami, a peacock gudgeon, one tank boss kribs.

Jungle val or hornwort. I like my tanks to have a shaded look and the floating hornwort works wonders while the vals really give that "jungle" look as the tall leaves drape over the surface.

Thanks. I have a pretty good current in my tank that makes floaters difficult. Rigged up a barrier with air tubing but couldn't keep all of my duckweed in and it all died. The trimmings from the rotala aren't as finicky floating. Maybe I'll try hornwort or anacharis as a floater.

Jungle Val is ok in sand with no root tabs?

How about three or four more anubias in the foreground of about the same type as the one already there? I.e. create an anubias 'garden' in the foreground. Then, once done, start experimenting and see if you can get either val or a cool stem plant forest going behind them? Just an idea, already like the way it looks!

Just going to throw out my favorite stem plant! Pogostemon Stellatus Octopus. Bright light green, grows fast, hardy, and fills in space nicely due to its long reaching leaves.

For that corner... Nymphaea sp. (and no, they do not need fertilzers necessarily, despite what people say, I have one in blackwater with minimal - less than average tank water - nutrients and it does quite well) or my alltime favourite: Hydrocotyle leucocephala. It can grow planted (not so well), as an epiphyte (especially close to the surface) or floating/emersed (then it covers the tank within mere weeks).

I think limnophila sessiliflora would look great in the corners!
