Not Sure If This Is Coloration Or Sickness...

My Betta has some small white patches on his back, they have been there for a couple weeks, but I haven't noticed any change. I just want to make sure it is nothing serious? It doesn't seem to be fuzzy or raised or anything and he is still eating normally. Photos Bellow in different lighting. Thank you in advance!!

 

No worries, it looks like the noted white scales are consistant with the white scales positioned along the side of the Bettas face. Its probably genetic.

Thank you! I don't know if I should delete/start a new forum, but I also just found a hole in his dorsal fin. I think he has started fin biting his Caudal Fin and Pectoral fins, (which I have been keeping a close eye on, as well as buying new plants for him to play and hide in and Indian almond leaves to help prevent infection) but I'm not sure how this hole got here? I don't have any sharp objects in the tank, only thing I could think to cause this is the filter intake he sleeps against (Fluval Spec)

 

Relax. Just keep the water clean. One 50% WC a week and feed very carefully w/ quality food. Fish regularly get nicks & cuts. A clean environment is usually all that is needed for recovery.

Okay, that makes sense, this is the first time I've had a betta since I was a kid, and I am definitely very paranoid. Thank you for your advice.
