Not Sure If My Betta Has Ich

I have my betta in a 10 gallon with 2 african dwarf frogs. I noticed he probably had ich since there was maybe 5 white dots on his head and I quickly put him in a spare 5 gallon and put the heater on the 5 gallons to around 82F since ive heard high temp helps. it went away the next day, but since I read to keep them for at least a week in case it’s not fully gone, I left him in. the next (third) day it had gone from maybe 5 dots to like 15 and now it’s like the 6th day and he looks like this. I don’t even know if it’s ich or not, since ive seen ich infected fish and the white dots are much more prominent. for now ive switched him to a smaller container since I didn’t get to do a water change today, and turned the temperate up to 84F. the frogs seem perfectly fine. also, my betta isn’t as active but he is eating and digesting his food well. so does anyone know what this is? if it IS ich, I just can’t get rid of it. I’ve already tried Kordon’s ich attack and aquarium salt. I even tested the water and it seems pretty normal so??

That appears to be velvet rather than ick. I’d try a different method, but I can’t say too much about options as I’ve never dealt with it.

I hear good things about salt but you can’t use it with the frogs in the tank.

To me it doesn't look like velvet because that's not the golden rust colour that it's known for. Though it could also come in different colours. I unfortunately cannot identify what that is but I can pop in about treating velvet. If it is velvet, you should black out the tank because the parasite uses photosynthesis for energy, keep it the current temperature you have, and I had success treating it with Paraguard. I wouldn't trust an herbal remedy such as Ich Attack to work.

I asked this question yesterday but replies are really slow and I need a quick answer. my betta is usually kept in a 10 gallon with 2 ADFs and he does pretty well. he’s usually really active and interacts with me through the tank. I noticed he had 5 white dots on his head and thought it was probably ich, and I moved him to a 5 gallon. I did put some of the 10 gallon water in the 5, maybe 1/4 or a little less. everything in the 5 gallon was boiled and cleaned before putting it in. anyway the next day he had 15, then the next he had around 30, and now he’s like this. oh and the day he had 30 there was parasites in the tank. he ate some and I quickly took him out and did a water change. the heater in the 5 is at 84F, with aquarium salt, and ich medicine, but he keeps worsening. for the past 2 days he’s been floating at the corner or the tank, or hiding in the decorations and only coming up to breathe. now, he’s in a smaller container as I didn’t get to do a water change yesterday. this morning he did take longer to eat than he usually does. he always eats his pellets/blood worms as soon as they’re in the tank, and he does it super aggressively, today he took maybe 3 minutes and ate them slowly. is this ich? or something else? someone said fin rot, and someone else said maybe velvet, or does it have anything to do with the parasites he ate? I haven’t gotten a clear answer.

I’d say it is a protozoan parasite, either ich or velvet. You need better meds like Quick cure or tetra parasite guard. Something with malachite green and formalin.

You must treat him in a separate tank from the frogs though and also give the main tank a good cleaning to prevent re-infection after putting him back in.

I’d throw him in a 5gal bucket with a heater and air stone, treat him in black out conditions for a few days and see how it goes.
