not giving birth

my brother has a 17 gallon tank and has a few guppies 2 male and 4 female when he brought them one of the females was pregnent and her griaved spot was realy big this was a month ago and she still hasent given birth

so my question is why is this so (why is she not giving birth) and what can he do to make her give birth

Fish can hold their fry if they're stressed or don't feel their environment is safe. So the first thing to do is check water parameters, then start looking for reasons why she'd be stressed, such as bullying by another fish, inadequate hiding spaces, temp not right.

You can't make her, or any other animal, give birth naturally. Sure, some people like to mess with nature and induce labor but that's a whole other conversation I could go on about. . But there's really nothing he can (or should) do to force her into labor because that would likely stress her out even more.
