55 Gallon Tank Not all air stones are the same

So recently I starting putting my tank together I want the lit bubbles they look really great when the lights go out! I got a kit well actually 2 of them, to put into my tank a splitter valve to adjust the different flows to the air stones. Well over the course of about 2 months I could not get the look even similar no matter what I was getting more bubbles out of one, but next to none out of the other, or vise versa. I tried cleaning them adjusting my tubing etc nothing was working. I bought a $10 kit with an extra-long blue air wall air stone it looks great. I am going to purchase it again and do it again, but I discovered the cheap air stones work better than some of the more expensive ones....just a warning to everyone out there!

Air will always take the path of least resistance. And balancing the path of least resistance equally between two lines can be tricky... unless you have a gang valve.

With a gang valve you can adjust the flow to each outlet. That makes balancing the flow between two or more air stones easy.

Yeah, I do have a dual adapter gang valve, however, I could not balance the air for the life of me, I played with it for several days and had no luck. I even tried to clean them out with some fresh water and blow air through them thinking maybe the line was jacked up, nope. I pull them apart and one of the points where the air enters the stone broke (great) so ordered some cheap ones off Amazon that are doing better (I still don't have the 2nd set I need) my only complaint is that the suction cups keep popping off -_-

I think I've used those before they are great for the small air stones, but I want the air stones that create the bubble walls! Honestly, it's all about the aesthetic at this point with that! I'm just being OCD and want it look balanced

Yeah no worries, I never thought that the same brand air stones would have those problems. It completely blew my mind!

This will give you a lot of control on air flow.

I don't need quite that many LOL, I only needed two but I have one and I have discovered that algae like to grow on my stones and plug them up LOL. I really need to just get started so I can have some plants to compete with the algae. I hate seeing it with no fish hahah

I know, I got some 12 pack of airstones for 5$ and they are the best airstones I’ve had!!
