Northfin vs New Life Spectrum foods?

Was looking for some good quality food for my betta. I was comparing New Life Spectrum to Northfin and the ingredients seemed mainly the same. (Both contained whole Antarctic krill, followed by garlic, spirulina, more seafood). I also compared to Fluval Bug Bites (since so many people recommend those) but the bug bite ingredients seemed inferior in comparison to the other two.
I ended up going with Northfin, as I couldn’t get NLS shipped to me.
Are they both good? I know some people feed Hikari as well, but the formula was less healthy with that brand (fish meal, rice meal, fillers, etc.)

I use NLS A+ with garlic for my cichlids. They go bananas over it so I'm sure bettas would like it to.

I also use northfin for my community tank and they seem to enjoy it so I guess you cant go wrong either way.

Hey Lebeeze, you should try NLS Probiotix, its based on their Thera A+ formula.

My Betta ignores NLS, and my last attempt on dry food will be NF.
Feed whatever he eats....I gave up.

So weird how some bettas can be so picky! I’ve never had one be too fussy with food. However, I have noticed over the years that the ones I’ve owned prefer flakes over pellets. And they were never too keen on freeze dried bloodworms.
I’m guessing you’ve tried flake food already? My fish is currently fed Omega One Betta Buffet flakes and he goes nuts for them, ever since I first dropped them in the tank. Have you tried that brand?

Another member also mentioned that their betta spits out NLS . weird since most people seem to praise that brand. Good to hear he accepts NF though! I haven’t tried either yet with my fish, but hopefully he’ll accept the NF pellets.
I’d like to maybe try bug bites someday. I’ve heard good things about them. Just liked the ingredients in NF more. He already gets fed omega one betta flakes, so I’ll be feeding a rotation of that and NF.

To be honest, yes NLS pellets are very good, I feed them, and even my fahaka puffer eats them. They are like my 'good boy pellets' I only feed on occasion because I didn't pay 15$ for like 4oz to throw it to everyone like candy. What I would do is to focus on a varied diet. Meaning - Yes feed high quality foods, but maybe one day he gets bug bits, another NLS pellets, one day some frozen bloodworms, and the list goes on. You can feed one main food, but its best to use several products to prevent nutrition deficiencies. To describe this means that one food may be high in protein but low in veggies, where another high in veggies and low in protein, rotating those two would be better than just one so he gets a mix of greens and protein.

Personally I have Omega One flakes, NLS A+ pellets, Spirulina Flakes, Cobalt Shrimp Pellets, Omega One Algae Wafers, and other Omega One freeze dried stuff. I also feed frozen baby brine, frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp (adult), and also live baby brine from time to time.

My only problem is that Northfin sinks like a stone. My bettas are top feeders and slow, so the Northfin ends up fertilizing the plants or feeding the amanos. I prefer the small size NLS Float pellets

Yes Northfin pellets do sink a bit faster than NLS slow sinking pellets. Another consideration might be your preferred pellet size. Northfin 1 mm pellets are a bit smaller than NLS 1.0-1.5 mm pellets. NLS do have a 0.5-0.75 mm pellet size in some products.
