Noodle's Other Tanks

Ah I see and the lamp is good enough for that plant in there?
The plants in the tank are anacharis canadensis, Cryptocoryne wendtiI (a small sprout still growing), and salvinia auriculata. Theres two ludwigia bits I'm trying to grow out some roots before placing them in the tank theyre supposed to go in, but the cories dig them up so I put them in the betta tank for the time being.

The salvinia is a trial as I usually kill all floating plants lol.

The anacharis does well with any lighting, its not a fussy plant.

The crypt is growing steady, slow, but steady so good enough. The crypt may not stay permanently in this tank though, I may place it elsewhere and try out some mosses or something.

But the desk lamp seems to do fine at least for the plant choices.

I use a desk lamp for lighting on that tank. I find the light bothers my eyes so I put the foil there to block it but still allow it to light up the tank
Thx for this idea btw. I can't believe I never thought of that before...

The set up under the foil.
DIY lid to keep out jumping, keep cats out, but also to allow air and light through. Used knitting mesh.

And under it, the floaters.

That last pic is brilliant.

I use clingfoil with a little moisture on the outer rI'm to 'glue' it shut properly, that way no light gets lost.
I have one set-up where the light is quite some distance from the tank though, because there isn't another way to fasten it. I'll see if I can make an aluminium hood to guide the light better and stop myself looking into it when I look in that direction. So thanks for that idea!

Also, what do you mean, you kill floating plants? There's barely any surface visible.

These are fresh added 2 days ago. Check back next month to see what's left hahahahaha

I tried duckweed before. I killed it.
Floated wisteria? I killed it in every tank except my male betta's tank up in the window! As soon as plants touch air, they die in my care.
