Non Carpeting Foreground Plant?

Hey Everybody! I'm looking for a foreground plant for my 29G tank with eco-complete substrate. Low to medium lighting. I love the look of plants like hairgrass, but don't really want it to carpet.

Are there any recommendations for foreground plants that look like hairgrass when it's small and just been planted in little patches? Also, how difficult would it be to keep a carpeting plant from carpeting so that it stays in those little patches?

Dwarf sag and chain sword come to mind. Also micro sword but I find it difficult to plants.
I have dwarf chain sword in my tank, and plant it at the edges of rocks etc. I like the way it looks, like a little tuft of wild grass

Thank you so much! Those are pretty much exactly what I was looking for!

I looks like dwarf chain sword might be more commonly called pygmy chain sword (possibly narrow leaf chain sword too)? Or is that a different plant? Do you know off the top of your head the main differences between it and dwarf sag?

Crypt parva is an excellent foreground plant, low light, slow grower and stays small

Yes it's probably Pygmy chain sword. I jut know what I have is not the tall variety, like I think the narrow leaf is.
I don't know the difference between the two

Oh yes! Many crypts make excellent foreground plants! Some of my favorites!

Ooh, now that looks really neat. Not exactly what I'm wanting at the moment, but I'll remember that for the future. Thank you!
