Nocturnal Cory's?

I wanted to know if Cory's are nocturnal naturally because all of mine seem to be,they seem to sleep all day and only time I see them active is in the mornings when I feed my fish Omega one freshwater flakes and at night as I feed them their API bottom feeder shrimp pellets but then they're active all night after that, is this normal?

They are naturally nocturnal, having bright lights makes them his more, if you can dI'm the lighting in anyway you should see more of them

I wouldn't say they're nocturnal. They have sporadic periods of active and resting times throughout the day and night. At least mine are active and rest during different times of the day/night.

Yeah I'd agree that many are active during the day, but like most catfish they are still sensitive to light. So, scratch the nocturnal part. Dimming the lights or providing overhanging plants or structure.

I also realized it depends on the cory species too. I've kept aeneus which seem more out and about, constantly spawning. Sodalis are more timid and skittish so they like to be under plants a lot so I rarely see them. And sterbais are just all over the place and extremely active more than 50% of the time. It's interesting to say the least.

It also depends on how many you have in there. I have 13 albino cories that are ALWAYS active no matter what.

They like the twighlight / dawn but if they notice there will be food at specific times, they will be active scavaging the tank for some time after the food went in.

That's exactly how mine are!

It is in German, but think this is an awesome vid. Btw : showing Corydoras do live on sharp gravel as well.

That is a cool video. I think that would be the ultimate trip, catching cories or even just watching them in their natural habitat

Great video. I did pick up one word only Corydora. Were those lemon barbs that swam by? Interesting bottom habitat on the river. I really enjoyed it. Alison
