From what I can make out, it looks like fin rot. I use Melafix on my fish(other than the female bettas) and it works fine. I don't really know what those med's are so I can't help you there.

It looks like that 20 gallon is overstocked and the fish in it are big poopers, so you probably have water chemistry issues. that cloudiness looks like the result of high ammonia, but I could be wrong. does the tank have a smell to it?

do you know the maker of your water testing kit? if you do and can tell us what colors you get in the tubes for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, that might help track down the problem. I'd recommend treating the tank with prime after at least a 50% water change, followed by 25% water changes daily. The gravel could use vacuumed/cleaned every couple of days - it's amazing how much poop they'll leave around.

what colors are the gills on the fish who've died? i'd hold off on meds until you can determine if water chemistry is the issue. Meds with bad water levels could be more harm than good.

The guils look fine on the ones who have died. Its a Master Test Kit for pH, Ammonia, Nitrite and KH/GH....

I agree with FLBettaCouple...the tank looks overstocked, which could be causing water quality issues. Try the 50% water change, and definitely try to get some readings on the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

I am loking all over the house for the instructions.... And I have homes lined up for 15 mollies. Is it ok to re-home them?

it should be fine, just have their new owners acclimate them to their new tanks. is it an apI kit or are you not sure of who made it? it may say on the bottle labels.. do you have the color charts for the tests? they're often little cards and separate from the instruction manual.

I don't have the charts as they were atached to the instructions.... Its made by Hagen.

That pleco is enormous! You should have only the pleco and maybe 6 Mollies in there and nothing more. I don't think getting rid of only 15 fish will help. That tank is heavily overstocked! The fish are dying from stress and ammonia poisoning probably. Keep the Mollies from breeding by having only males or only females.

The other problem I think you have is that the temp is on the high side....Gradually drop it down to 76-78 over the course of a couple of days...Higher temps mean less oxygen.

Also, in addition to ammonia levels rising I would be willing to bet that you have nitrate issues as well....

Try this link, it should take you to help files on the hagen test kits and hopefully let you get the instructions you need to use your kit.

that stinks. you could order an API kit from the DFS site for $19.99 or print out the page for it atpetsmart and take it into the store for $20.69 + tax (unlike our petco, I hear petsmart honors online prices.)

Oh no. That's pretty bad. I heard a lot of members buy stuff on-line. Perhaps that's something. I guess there are no other fish stores around yours, are there?

There is one but I don't like it.... They do not take care of there fish and everything is way over priced. But I think Pets smart is taking it over. Do you guys like them?

This morning the tank has cleered up a lot. I'm happy to say.

I don't REALLY like petsmart, but I don't hate them like Petco.. at least at petsmart, i've seen slightly better treatment of the fish than petco.

yea, it sucks that being in canada makes a difference with shipping & all.. it's not like it's going across the ocean or something..

I think it depends on the store...There are several PetCos around us...One is really good about fish, another is fair and the other is just poor and pathetic.....

you're fortunate.. the best i've seen in petcos is ok (in denver).. the one here would have to improve to make it up to poor & pathetic.
