No Electricity What To Do?

The power cuts off at 12 to 5 in the afternoon. I will be reaching home at 1pm and install the battery powered airpump in my 55. I'm using a trickle setup filter. Using bioball Biohome and minI bacteria house. I was wondering if the bacteria in there will survive when the power is off. I actually working at 2pm. So it's quite rush.
Anybody have advice?

If the bacteria dies, will it stay in the media pores and use up the space? Sry if this sounds weird. Have been wondering for a while

as long as the media is wet, all or most of the bacteria should survive.
it could be worth getting something like a bottle of safe start if you are worried though.

Ikkoo, there is a stikie on the forum about what precautions to take during power outages. The MODs usually give it a bump during cases of extreme weather forecast in the east or mid west. To maintain temperature, you can wrap your tank with blankets, or buy reflective bubble insulation and make a cover for you tank. This is available at your local home improvement store. With regard to keeping your bacterial colonies alive, you can remove the filter cartridges from your filter and place them in your tank, you can also use a pitcher to remove water from your tank and pour it in the filter every so often. I would skip feeding this day and resume normal feeding when your power returns. Best of luck.

So I guess I will be putting the 6 tray of media inside the tank for about 13 hours. Is it OK? Cause I'm coming back home for sch at 1 and leave the house at 2, working till midnight.

Hi,
How long is your power going to be out? Looks like only 5 hours?
If that's the case, I wouldn't worry.

Recently, the power company shut off power to our street for 8.5 hours. I didn't do anything at all, and everything was fine. Including my Saltwater Reef tank. The tanks cooled down a little bit, but nothing too bad.

The worst bit of the outage was having to reset all the clocks and timers
