I have a 55 gallon tank with about 30 fish inside and it’s planted pretty heavily. Nitrates are usually no higher than 5. Yes I shake the ever living out of bottle two for at least 30 second shake the test tube for a minute. Is this normal with a planted tank is my question? Test kit is good to 2021 btw

Tanks with higher plantloads tend to have lower nitrates, especially if you don't overfeed your fish and do proper weekly maintenance.

I do a pwc every 7-10 days to keep the minerals up really. I was just making sure I wasn’t having a false sense of security. With a planted tank is it ok to overstock a little bit?

Plants can really help a lot. As long as you're certain your tank is cycled then I wouldn't be too concerned.

Tested 0/0/5 for months now. I should be good just was wondering if it was normal. It’s my first planted tank
