Nitrates In Planted Tank And Dosing

I would consider myself new to planted tanks.
So I typically have around 40ppm nitrates come water change day (Saturdays). I have a moderately planted tank (along with Pothos and Peace Lily roots dangling inside).
I use Easy Green toot tabs and also Flourish root tabs, and have been dosing twice a week with Easy Green liquid fert, and Excel.
I am wondering, should I stop dosing the liquid fert since my nitrates are on the high side? I do tend to feed my fish on the heavier side. I wouldn't say I overfeed, but definitely could be borderline.
Last week my nitrates were above 40. I did a back to back water change and it barely budged.

I plan to lighten on the feeding to help with this, but if I have enough nitrate in the tank, should I just dose some potassium and phosphate separately for now, and allow my plants to absorb what's already in there?

Just don't want my nitrates to get to dangerous levels before water change day.

Thanks for the insight!!

40 on nitrates is fine, so I don't see a need to stop dosing the ferts, how much water do you change?

This is in my 55 gallon and I usually change almost 50% each Saturday.

Well you should always do what you feel is best or you're more comfortable with. But here's my suggestion, after your 50% change on Saturday, you could do a 25% change the following Wednesday. That way, it shouldn't go much higher than 30ppm by the next Saturday. Just a thought

Is there nitrate in your tap? As mentioned 40 ppm isn't an issue for most livestock if the nitrate comes from the nitrate salt compounds dissolved in the fertilizer. Unfortunately if you dose less then you're also reducing the iron, magnesium, sulfur, boron, etc everything else in the fertilizer that the plants need.

I don't have any nitrates in my tap.
So 40ppm isn't too bad as far as nitrates go?

40 is the top of what's considered safe or acceptable, so as long as you don't have extra sensitive fish 40 is fine.

40ppm is fine, especially if a good amount comes from the fertilizer. I've dosed my nitrate crazy high before (accidentally dosed 90ppm once after a miscalculation) and the fish were absolutely fine. Your fish will be fine in 40ppm in the long term.
