Nimbus's aquarium

Still very new to this fishkeeping game, but after a slow start and some early casualties, my tank seems to have settled down.

So, I now have;

Current Fish @ 02/04/07

1 x bristlenose pleco
6 x Zebra Danio
1 x Leopard Danio
3 x female guppy ( all pregnant ! )
2 x male guppy
5 x baby guppies (from first pair, now 2 months old )
2 x orange platy
1 x mottled platy
2 x neon tetra
4 x silver shark
2 x not sure of their name !
X x small snails

Found first silver shark dead at bottom of tank this morning :'(

Looks healthy, but dead, only unusual thing is a little redness under his belly.

Only thing unusual is that I gave the pleccy a slice of cucumber three days ago, but he diodnt eat it, the sharks did instead !

All other fish seem fine,

levels are;
Amonia 0 ppm
Nitrites 0 ppm
Nitrates 20 ppm

Yellow female guppy looks set to give birth any day now !

 

hI nimbus!!! sorry about your fish. do u mean bala shark by silver shark? I think 55 gallon tank is too small for 4 of them, they grow up to 13 inches.

cheers guys, shark loss was a bit sad, but the others seem fine now..

I did read about the size of tank needed for a bala shark, after I'd bought these ones.. So I'm not sure if they are that type after all.. they said they were 'silver sharks'
I did ask my LFS, ( its a big, ( non chain), well known and recommend one in the UK fish magazines), before purchase and they were adamant I had enough room, so I shall be asking again when I go in soon..
