NICREW ClassicLED Aquarium Light Question

I am looking into purchasing the light mentioned in the title. On the product information on Amazon it says it is highly recommended to use a lid. I really would like to not use a lid if possible. For people who have these do you use a lid?

I don't have that particular light but all the lights I do have recommend using a lid. Havent had issues in 2 years with them. Beamswork, aquaneat, now a finnex. I believe should be fine as long as not running an airstone constantly putting bubbles/water on the light

I have this light and no lid, have been running 3 months now and I keep my water level 4" or more from the light and never have any problem.

Thanks. Ya I don't have an airstone so it should be fine.

Ok I will do the same and have it a bit lower like you.

Really it’s just to avoid the potential of the light getting wet. As long as you’re careful you should
Not have issues.

Recently picked this light up to go on a new 40B that I will make a thread on soon. We have had great success growing plants wit these lights

I had a Nicrew light on my 110L for over a year without a lid. They are splash proof but not water proof. If it falls in water will get in to it as they aren't sealed against the pressure.
