Next Fish for my Aquarium?

Hello,

I recently got my first tank (13 gallon). I currently have 2 Dalmatian Molly's, 2 platy, 2 Cherry barbs, and 2 Honey dwarf Gourami. I was wonder what my next fish should be ( if any) and what fish will get along with these, as well as bring color to the tank.

Also please let me know if I made any mistakes with putting these fish together, considering I went off of the recommendation of the store owner.

Thanks!

Gouramis are aggressive towards their own kind so I'd try rehoming one to start. Also, cherry barbs should always be kept in schools of six or more. Otherwise, they will become unnecessarily stressed making them more prone to disease and infection, and thus leading to early death. Your tank is currently overstocked, and I definitely would look at either removing the 2 barbs and one gourami, or removing both gouramis and maybe the platys or mollys, and adding more barbs to make a safe school. Make sure the mollys are the same sex, as there will be a lot of babies of you have a male and a female! Same goes for the platys.

Of you want to bring colour to the tank, add some colourful decorations, driftwood or live plants

Thank you! I kinda figured it was overstocked but the owner said it would be just fine ( guessing he just wanted to sell me more fish). I will look into rehoming the barbs and Gouramis, thanks for your help!

What are the dimensions of the tank?

Honey gourami are very peaceful, so if the tank is big enough, they both can stay.

I'd rehome the mollies for sure though - they're too large for this tank.

Depending on the dimensions, you may have to rehome the cherry barbs - they need to be in groups of 6+ in a minimum 24" tank.

The mollies need to go too, they can get 3+ inches and should be in a 29 gallon. What gender platies?

What do you think of celestial pearl danios or scarlet badis?

24 inches long , 17 inches high, and the width is 8.5 inches. ( sorry if I did that wrong). Would it be okay to keep the mollies until they get bigger? They are about 1.5 inches as of now, but I read after purchasing that they could get bigger.

The platies are male I believe. I haven't read much about danios or scarlet badis but I defiantly will!
Thanks !

I'd rehome them now so you can stock your tank with other fish. They will get too big, and I'm not a fan of keeping fish that will outgrow your tank.

What about this?
6x Cherry barbs
2x Male platies
2x Honey gouramis

That sounds good ! Would I need any type of clean up crew?
Thanks so much for the help!

You're the best clean up crew! Don't overfeed and do proper tank maintenance and you should be set
