Anyone have any idea what these fry would turn out to look like? They are both less than a year old and have been kinda friendly the past few weeks. Now this morring they have layed eggs for the first time so I don't expect much to happen with the eggs, but you never know they are doing a good job protecting the eggs. The Platinium is the female, the Black Marble Koi is the male

Beautiful Angels. I would expect you would get some that are white and some that are marbled.

Platinum Pearlscale angels genetically are double dose gold x double dose philippine blue x double dose pearlscale. (g/g - pb/pb - p/p).

Marbles are either double dose marbles or a marble and gold marble. (M/M or M/Gm). Marbles are hard to distinguish genetically by looking at them.

The female only carries recessive genes and the male only carries dominate genes, therefore you can expect all offspring to look like dad.

Hope that helps.

Wow Dena! Your answer confused me. ???But, you know what you are talking about. Thank you for correcting me, I was basing my assumption on human reproductive patterns. I didn't realize fish had differant pattersn of reproduction chromosone matching. You know what assuming does.im

Genetics are the same for human, fish, and all other living creatures. There are dominate traits as well as recessive. And genetically offspring receive genes from both parents.

As I have been working on breeding angels, I have been studying their genetics. Sorry if I confused anyone.

I think that's pretty cool. The fry will be interesting, but IMO the white angel is prettier than the marble.

That male is a hunk, if I were a female, I'd be all over him...... :-*
