New Wet Pets!

I have been wanting axolotls for months now, and today I finally got them! Does anyone have a guess as to how old they are? The leucistic is slightly larger, but not by much. They both have their feet already.

They are all tucked into their 20 long for their first night home. I'm in love already, they're so cute! The leucistic is already pretty brave, and seems to like hanging out where there's a good view of what's going on outside the tank. Hopefully the melanistic will warm up soon!

Say hello to Hiccup and Toothless!

So cute! I wish I could get axolotls but I don't have enough space and the water here is too warm, even without a heater.

I hear you about the temps. I have a fan running for now, but I just bought a probe chiller on Amazon that had great reviews. Hopefully it works as well as everyone says!

I know! Their little toes are so cute! Thanks, I had the names in my head from the first second I wanted to get them. Major nerd right here. Haha

They have what are called vestigial teeth that are basically just for gripping. They swallow their food whole.

So essentially, yes, they are actually toothless lol

Nice! How much space will they require as adults?

I'm wondering how much space needed to house 2?

You'll hear contradicting numbers, but it's safe to say a minimum of 10 gallons per axie, but ideally 20 per axie. These two have a 40 gallon with their names on it waiting for when they grow up! And if they end up being opposite genders, one can stay comfortably in the 20 long.
