Yes, floating plant, often used in ponds.

It looks so pleasant floating there. I think I'll try to find some when I go to the garden store this weekend.

This plant will spread across water so weed often. I was able to split a piece of already. Now I have 2 plants. They have long roots and often fish like to nibble on them.

Goldfish will eat this plant.

I kind of figured my goldie would think it's a treat. I might add it to the BPs' tank when they're all squared away.

Is doing awful! Pulled it out of 55 gallon and placed in it's own glass bowl w/ liquid plant food.

I'm sure you probably know, but just in case, I believe you're not supposed to let the top of the plant get wet, else it will rot. Seems kind of silly for an aquatic plant to have to stay dry, but that's what I've read. In your first picture, it seems like the parts of the leaves that are underwater are turning brown, so maybe it's true?

I've always wanted some water lettuce but I seem to remember reading that I don't have the right requirements for it. My LFS has a large pond and they had a bunch in it; it initially looked really nice but now it's all brown and most of it has rotted away.

The leaves were above the water. I trimmed all the brown away. I did have it near the filter. I've read water flow isn't good for water lettuce.
Oh well. I was looking forward to a nice plant cover.
