New ten gallon tank

Hey everyone, I just recently decided to get back in the game of fish keeping and decided I wanted to bring out my old ten gallon tank. I use to have guppies in it, but I don't want to do them again. I was thinking about putting a dwarf gourami, 2 silver Mollies and 3 zebra danios. What does everyone think about that? I want to know if these fish would work or not and if there was any other combo I could do. The tank is already set and is just waiting for it to be filled with fish. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Unfortunately, all of the fish you chose are unsuitable for a 10 gallon tank. DG's are very active, as are Danios. The Mollies get to be 4 inches long, some have been know to reach close to 6!

However, Honey Gourami's are well suited for that size tank.

To help you stock your tank, it'd help to know what other fish you're interested in

Welcome to FishLore, btw

I enjoyed the Betta that I had for about five years, I like Mollies, Tetras, along with barbs. Eventually I would like to have some Oscars but that will have to wait till I have the money for a bigger tank.

Welcome to FishLore!

Are you aware of the nitrogen cycle? If not, please read up on it since it is the most important thing to understand when keeping fish.

Of the fish you listed the only one that I would suggest putting into a 10 gallon tank would be the Honey Gourami. Danios need a lot more swimming area than a 10 gallon tank can provide and Mollies produce too much waste for a 10 gallon tank and they can grow to be quite large compaired to the 10 gallon tank. Personally I would stick with the smaller fish like Guppies or Endlers or go with a species only tank with a Honey Gourami or Betta.

A nice alternative to the molly could be to go with platies

Yes I am familiar with the the nitrogen cycle and have already done so, the tank is ready and waiting. Thanks everyone for the advice, I think I'll just go with a Betta, since I am already familiar with them and what they need.

So i'm thinking of doing a Otocinclus with a betta. Would that be ok for a ten gallon tank?

ottos really shouldn't be kept alone, but a trio would do nicely in a 10 gal. With a betta however, they are really hit or miss. Some bettas will leave them alone, others will tear them apart, literally!

With that amount of space, it should be fine, if they are the only 4 fish in the tank. Lots of plants will help, too
