New tank syndrome ?

So I'm having a bit of a problem.
I got a 57l fluval flex tank about a month ago. I pinched some filter media from my 230l cycled tank and set it up. All my levels were good ( ph 6.8, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5) stocked it with
10 ember tetra 1st week
5 shrimp 2nd week
5 pygmy cories 2nd week
And a betta ( he doesnt attack anyone very peaceful) 4th week
We stocked carefully or the few weeks I tested the levels everytime before adding new fish.
There was a little nitrite spike after the 2nd week so I done w/c daily and it went away in a few days. All was looking good waited 2 weeks then found a betta and added him.

We've had him about 2 days and I tested the water and found we had zero nitrates. I done a w/c and readings are now ph 6.8 ammonia .25 nitrite .25 and nitrate 0.

Had the cycled crashed ? Dont understand how the nitrate can just disappear altogether.

I'm dosing seachem prime and stability just now to try and help recoup the bacteria and keep the fish safe.
Theres been zero deaths and everyone is accounted for.

Is my cycle starting again?
Also just to put eveyones mind at ease, I have a back up plan if my betta doesnt get along with the other fish. They will go into my community tank.
Thanks.

First off, how big of a water change are you doing?

Secondly, it does sound like your tank has stalled and restarted the cycle imo. I've never had luck out of Stability but when one of my tanks did that I poured a whole bottle of tetra safestart plus in the tank. I left it for two weeks, fed my fish as usual and did not change the water until the 14th day, changed the water and my tank was cycled again.

Oh really never used that before I'm doing about 50% changes daily just now. Had a bit of bacteria bloom yesterday which is making me think cycled had crashed and the test results of course.
Might look at tetra safe start cheers

Personally, I'd slow down on the water changes, add some Prime to your tank. You could be overfeeding and its spiking your ammonia when it breaks down possibly. Not saying you overfeed but we're all guilty of it at times. Do you have a decoration you can take from your other tank or filter media you put in the smaller one? It'll help bring the bioload from the other to the new one.

I hold my hands up I have been known to over feed. They just always look so hungry Haha. I'll cut it way back. Did a clean the sand of left over food today as well.
Yea I can take some media from my other tank for sure I'll add that in.
So dont do daily w/c that's what I've always been told ? I'll keep up the prime every 48hrs.

If the bio-load is higher in your bigger tank pulling some media from it and putting it into this one should get this cycle back on track. From all I've read tetra safe start may help but nothing works better than bacteria from one's own cycled tank.

As long as the ammonia plus nitrite combined is less than one Prime should detox them. Should the total amount go above one get them down with a water change.

Would it be possible to take media from my cycle tank and completely replaced the stalled stuff. Then put that media into my cycled filter to be recycled? Does that make sense lol

I am not sure the cycle is stalled in this tank. I have to think it is just trying to catch up with the higher bio-load. As you admitted, you may be over feeding. By doing so your little guys are producing more ammonia than the bacteria can handle. A little extra media from your cycled tank and less food should straighten this cycle out.

Thats awesome! I'll grab some media out my other tank and change it over. I hope this sorts it out. Thank you for your help. I'll cut back the feeding for sure.

There is probably some bacteria in the new tank so I wouldn’t remove the media. It’s probably that there’s just not enough bacteria so I would add more media from the other tank if you can, dose with prime and stability
