New Tank, Same Equipment...?

I didn't know where to put it so hopefully this is the right spot... Well I'm planning on upgrading a breeding/fry tank (10 gallons) to a 29 gallon tank. I have extra gear(designed for a larger tank) hanging around the house so I put it in the 10 gallon to hopefully use for the 29 gallon cycle... I'm wondering if I take all the equipment from the 10 gallon tank and put it in the 29 gallon with decor included, would this be an instant cycle?

It may be. Depends on the bio-load of the two tanks. If that is equal you will most likely have success, if you have/plan to have more fish in the larger tank, you should add them slowly. I've always gotten instant cycles just by moving filter media to new tanks.

I never add a whole bunch of fish at once for that reason of over loading the bio-load... Hearing that you have success of just moving filter media to a new tank and having an instant cycle is very reassuring. Thank you for responding to my question!

I also instantly cycle my tanks by using seeded filter media or squeezing spong filters right into the new tank. Has never failed me. I have 16 tanks set up right now and all three of my 55 gallon tanks have two double filters running in them. I just swap out one of the filter medias from two of the tanks with new ones and use the old ones in the new filter. Works great.

I just did that with a 10 to 20 gallon. It worked wonders. I will add my equipment was all designed for a 20 or larger. It was back up that I had for my 20 downstairs I put in my 10.
