New Tank Readings

Hey everyone. I’m pretty new to the hobby, tank is cycled and I just found a formula for the measurements for my tank (it’s a corner tank and I haven’t looked to far into it. I just took the word of the guy I bought it from) it’s about 37 gallons. I do have it slightly over stocked but my readings don’t seem right. I have 0 ammonia and nitrates but my nitrites are between 0 and 5. Is this going to cause a problem? Could I possibly add another fish?

Hi, your readings are out, they should be ammonia & nitrites zero & less than 20 ppm nitrates for a healthy environment for fish, ammonia & nitrite at any level is bad for fish & will slowly poison them. Can't say about adding another fish as I don't know what & how many you have already but my advice would be to get the water parameters sorted before putting anything else in.

Sorry nitrites and nitrate readings are reversed, nitrites are 0 and nitrates are between 0 and 5

I have several overstocked tanks.

They require more maintenance. I do 2 50% water changes weekly.

But no loses.

If I add another fish it’s jusy going to be another Cory cat to fill the school I have, so nothing crazy. By the way the tank has a 30 gallon hang one the back and a 40 gallon sponge. As far as water changes go I typically do a 25% a week somethings 50% depending on how much time I have

OK, that's good, with those readings you've got pretty much perfect water conditions.

You're well filtered for the size of tank so I'd say one more cory isn't going to harm.
