New tank, or try my chances?

Hello, I have a problem. I have two tanks, a 20 gallon holding several molly and tetras, and a 2.5 gallon holding 3 red cherry shrimp. The 2.5 gallon light is in a weird triangle form and I can't find a replacement light that fits on its hood. I'm wondering what should I do; move the shrimp over to the 20 gallon, or should I try to find a new tank for the shrimp. I was thinking I would get a newer tank because the 2.5 is a cheap plastic, with a filter that runs way too much flow. Any thoughts help, thanks!

What colour is the lid on the shrimp tank? I think I had that one with a white top and I was able to put a desk lamp shining down on it and the light went right through!

Too bad! Oh well, does it need to have a lid? Probably. What's wrong with the light in it now?

If you don't have live plants, fish usually don't really need a light or a strong light. So they'll be fine for a few days esp if there's window light or ambiant light.

But I must ask why are they not in the 20? Is there any floor cover for them in the 20? If you have enough floor cover and are not medicating then I don't see why you can't move them to the 20 forever? My tetras never bothered my shrimp.
