okay so I have recently step up a new 5 gallon tank. I cycled it for 5 weeks and finally have it completely set up with a betta and mystery snail inside. but I have noticed that the tank started to leak, my first thought was that maybe I over filled it but now after coming home I found that tones of water has spilled out from the bottom. its leaking from the bottom corner just behind the plastic. here is a pic:

what do I do now??????!!!

You'll have to drain it, reseal the bottom, and put the whole thing back together again

I think I found the cause...
tell me if im way off
but because betta fish struggle to swim against a strong current I put some filter material over my filter it reduced the flow crazily but it has actually been pushing water out from the back of my tank. so I took it off just now and the leaking has suddenly stopped. could this be the cause or not??...

Possibly but the corner you have circled is the opposite corner lol. If that's all it was then great there should be a knob somewhere on your filter to reduce the flow without having to stuff extra stuff in it

It could very well be the cause. It is possible the water just ran around the rim making you think that is where the water was coming from. If removing the filter media stopped it we can pretty well confirm that is what was happening. You should know for sure in just a few days. If you don't see any more water anywhere out side the tank I have to think you found where it was coming from.
