New set up

Wrona0306

Hi everyone
I set up new tank 2 days ago and my no are
Ph 6
Amonia 0.5
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 5
Im treating water with prime and stability
So enyone know when nitrites show up.
Top water have 7ph and after 50% water change ph in the tank is 6.6 but this morning drops to 6. I thinking about adding crush coral but dont know this is to early
Any advice lads

Did you add a sorce of ammonia to start the cycle?
Im not sure why your ph is fluctuating so much, Do you have something in the tank, like seashells or rocks?
Crushed coral will alter your ph. what ph are you aiming for?

I believe that the bog wood is lowering your pH. Adding a media bag with some crushed coral stuffe into your filter box will help raise the pH.

With a pH too close to 6.0, it makes it pretty much impossible to cycle a tank due to the fact that under a pH of 7.0, ammonia starts turning into ammonium. While ammonium is far less toxic (some claim it's noin-toxic) to fish, it makes a horrible food source for the ammonia converting bacteria.

Check your tap water for nitrates. I don't think you would have nitrates showing up 2 days into the cycle.
