New Set Up Input

H2oAngels

Hello all, I currently have a 20 gallon high tank housing 2 angels and a flying fox. Once I bought the fish I knew my 20 gal wasn’t going to cut it (plus I want more angels). I snagged a 65 gallon aqueon tank for a good price last night, ended up getting a fluval 406 canister to filter the tank. My question is it better to have the intake closer to or further away from the flow? I have it dry set up so that they are on total opposite sides. My thought process is to have the intake sucking further away sucking dirtier water. I just wanted to make sure my logic was correct here.

I have attached some photos, I’m pretty sure I’ve got it spot on just wanted to get some veteran opinions. Also is the slack in my lines ok?

Correct, the intake should be in opposite corner across from the discharge.

That is how my canister is setup on my 75g.

Slack in the hoses are fine, and usually are better to have.

That way, you can move around the canister when servicing it.

If you had no slack, it would make it harder to move around when it's time to open it up to clean.

Also, congrats on the new tank.

Awesome, thanks for the input, water changes just got a bit more laboring!
