New Projects

Well I have been working on two projects one includes a 40 breeder for the Turtles. My wife and I got some Styrofoam from a dinning set that we got a few months ago and save it for this and We made a ramp for the turtles, inside tank background and divided the tank in 2 with the bigger section for water and the other for the turtles to hangout in a sand box. I'm thinking on using a small water pump to run a waterfall on the back to water some plants in the wall of the tank. The other project is for a 21 gal long that I got a while ago along with several others. The tank had some really bad water stains looks like it was used for saltwater before. Had a painted black background which I took of and Re-painted again along with all the trim. Well the main idea is to make a 20 long Planted with soil and fine clay gravel as base substrate with river Pea Gravel on top and topped off with bigger river gravel. Filtration I will be using my Mag 350 using a spraybar that I'm testing at the moment. I took the idea from this post on another planted tank site.

Today I put the tank to start cycling with seeded water and some media. Hope this works good. Will update on this as it progresses.
Thanks to all. Pics soon.

What kind of turtles do you have? A friend of mine used to have a Red Eared Slider and it was a lot of fun to watch.

Thanks I sure will. I just did readings just for pure curiosity and they are crazy readings. The nitrates are like 100 and ammonia is like 2. I guess is because the soil is nitrogen enriched.

Finally Done

Well finally. The Turtles are together in one tank after been in 2 separate ones for almost a year. We got some plants to put in 2 balcony looking pots on the wall. The dry/sand side is really good for them to bask for a while before the get in the water again. I think they love it.
