New plants, harmful or harmless bugs?

PolarBlue

I picked up this new plant today and was looking it over for snails and other critter and came across these weird guys! Are they beneficial? Should I wash them off or add them to the tank? I know the plant had dirt in it so I don’t know if that means anything

Those are scuds they are harmless. Just throw em in. No need to wash them it may kill them.

Would they be good to add to a tank of Polar Blues? I have fry in there that ARENT swimming yet, will scuds harm them?

Are they free swimming? Then No. They will only go after fry with the egg sac yet. So if that helps?

No they’re not free swimming yet. Yes that helps very much! I’ve looked up and saw that scuds make a good fish food for some fish so I was thinking about putting them in a small tank so that when the fry are older I can feed them to them. Is it worth it?
