HI all, I just bought a couple of albino oscar and a veil tail oscar, the veil tail has his one side gill opened too much is it a disease that will heal up soon ? I spoke to the lfs guy who asked me to bring it back in 2 days time as his shop is closed till then. The attached shows that clearly. Please help me. This is a 500 litres tank I have one 10” Aro for last 3 weeks, Just added these 3 oscars last evening. Thanks

He could just be stressed about being in a new environment.

Ok, I regimes him in a separate tank and he became pale there, I really feel sad. I want to have him in the main tank but Iam worries if that can spread to other fishes. I just noticed a tiny hole in the head of the other 2 albino oscars. So I am really confused, did a partial wc and added prime too. Hope you can notice that hole in the attached . Please advice me what to do. Thanks

Ok, first off your tank is extremely overstocked if it has an arowana as well, which may be part of the issue. Secondly oscars should be housed alone, as they are highly aggressive. I wouldn’t be surprised if the gill issue was caused by fighting.
Lastly, is your tank cycled, and is the water the right temperature and pH? If it’s not, that’ll also be part of the problem.

This is his grow out tank. I don’t see a problem with his stocking temporarily and I’ve seen many people mix Arowanas with Oscars. Oscars don’t have to be housed alone.

I can only really see the nostril in the picture but if its hole in the head disease, I've had success with general cure without recurrence. If the gills are enflamed and red, don't get better, and the water has no ammonia or nitrite, then consider a parasite treatment for gill flukes. I get the impression these are all new fish so they may have come with disease. Give them a chance and double check the parameters before meds, just saying.

Yeah carbeo is right, I had a word with aquaticj he made me realise that it’s his nostril, I was not knowing that. And these Aro and 2 oscars not fighting, now Aro started enjoying I guess, he used to be only on the surface level now he checks in middle level often but never fights or got nipped by oscars
